I'm having the same issue as described by the OP except that:

  • I have never used the Sync feature.
  • When I delete the association from container site list, it stays 'gone', but external links continue to open in that container.

Where is are Site Lists stored (maybe .sqlite or .json file)? I'd love to manually delete it and I can also possibly report back helpful technical details.

@pH142857 Did you enable the Sync feature in the addon by any chance?

Yes I did. By the way I am able to delete sites from another sync'd device.

Sounds like something's wrong with Sync. I remember people having similar issue one-way and both ways. See:

So far, no one was able to get clear steps to reproduce but I think someone in one of the thread mentioned a way to manually clear the Sync data and kinda start from fresh.

I'm having the same problem.

Spent a lot of time trying to get a consistent Steps to Reproduce, but I'm unable to figure out what are the exact steps to trigger a sync of the Container settings from one device to another.

For example:

Windows x64, Firefox 122.0.1 (64-bit), Multi-Account Containers v8.1.3, on two physical hosts.

Step to reproduce

  1. Firefox is closed on both hosts
  2. Host1: Open Firefox, create a new container called "Test"
  3. Host1: [ ☰ ] menu -> first row -> Synchronize now. Wait for sync to finish
  4. Host1: Close Firefox to keep things simple.
  5. Host2: Open Firefox. [ ☰ ] menu -> first row -> Synchronize now. Wait for sync to finish
  6. Host2: The new container is not there.
  7. Host2: Restart Firefox, the new container is still not there. Synchronize now, new container still not there.

I got a similar behaviour with Deleting containers.
Some settings, like adding a new site to the 'Personal' container got synced through, but the containers that were supposed to be deleted are still there.

I did a couple of reinstalls and re-sync of the Multi-Account Container extension trying to figure out the steps to reproduce these issues, and I've lost the site list of all my 20 containers. Funnily enough, the test containers that I've deleted keep coming back.

How do I delete the Container sync data stored on my Firefox profile so that I can start from scratch?

I'm getting the same thing. I think what's happening is that the extension syncs the adding of sites to a container list, but doesn't sync the removal. The next time the sync is done the site is re-added to the extension on the machine where I removed it.

Is there any way to remove the unwanted containers for now?
