After installing, there will be a file named nastran under usr/bin.
You need to run it in the wsl terminal. You can get test case from nastran-95's inp folder.
After solving a case, open the out file for result.

If you are only interested in running the program in windows 10 install the ubuntu app and then in the ubuntu terminal type sudo apt-get install nastran and it will be installed ready for use (it has some bugs but is the fastest starting point).

Is there anywhere a set of step-by-step instructions for copying Nastran-95 out of GitHub into a Windows 10 machine? I am not a programmer, and I am not familiar with GitHub.

Thank you very much all ! I had missed the notification and I have all these answers now ! great! Ubuntu is a very nice Idea to the condition that its installation wouldn't get difficult.
and if I use the fork and download it as a Zip ? then ? what should I do, now if attaching images is possible to put nicely in this post, shall someone very please show the steps ? it would be really kind and useful

I really recommend again my previous post: #19 (comment)
Installing from Ubuntu app for windows 10 is the fastest and easiest way. If anyway you want a compiled .exe for windows 10 let me know. And yes, the link works. It allows you joining to the nastran-95 discord which more active than github I think.

OK thanks - I would like to get a compiled .exe for windows 10 - I am NOT a programmer, so this needs to be pretty simple - otherwise I will screw it up!

Please excuse my ignorance - when I input “python c:\nast95\sbin\nastran.py mymodel.bdf” where does the program expect to find “mymodel.bdf”?
I keep getting the message “valid input file not provided”. I am using my own data deck, and placing it in the sbin folder. I have tried saving my file with different ext, but nothing seems to work.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong!

Hi,
It expects to find it in your current directory. Otherwise you can input
the absolute path of your .bdf file.
There is a readme file in the nast95 directory.

I went ahead and did this, however I can't get the NASTRAN file to actually open. It says it's up to date and installed, but it doesn't show up anywhere with the different means of launching apps in Ubuntu. Any thoughts?
