Custom CSS theme meaning a theme created entirely from scratch? I don't think that's a good solution, Bootstrap is created by a lot of people so I have more trust in it to handle different screen sizes.

I like it.

Very clean and it's different from layout of other firefox REST addons
(RESTClient for example)

@revolt666 I appreciate the concern, but we don't need most of the Bootstrap features for the add-on. Since the add-on will only ever run on Firefox, a lot of the cross-browser fixes/hacks are not needed. Support for Firefox Mobile was dropped, so the responsive classes are not needed either.

@nathan-osman I see, you're right. But you still need to pay attention to different screen sizes. I wish I could help you, but I'm busy these days, maybe in the future :D

Here's another screenshot of the left panel:

I've started using Ember.js and it has really helped speed up the development process. The table with the list of headers is a reusable component that lets you add and remove items to the table. It was implemented with 30 lines of JavaScript.

Once I finish the individual components, I'll begin connecting them to the code that actually sends the requests.

Okay, I have an alpha-quality release available for anyone who would like to give it a try:

http://files.quickmediasolutions.com/xpi/REST-Easy-0.2.9a.xpi

A few notes:

  • the add-on uses the version number "0.2.9a" but the final release will be "0.3.0"
  • sending requests works and you can view the headers / raw response / HTML preview
  • syntax highlighting is missing as well as shortcut keys
  • translations are not working yet
  • POST data cannot be set

All of these issues will be fixed before the final release. Please let me know how it works if you decide to give it a try.

You could make the request type select menu disappear when clicked outside of it, and not just when clicked on the select button
