In our use case what we needed was adding profile properties to some test groups and to some test users. The idea is something like this:
- testuser1:
- path: '/home/users/app'
password: xx
isMemberOf: group1
description: test user1
profile:
- propertyName1: value 1
propertyName2: value 2
where the properties have custom names. And the same for groups.

@carlosmorenoin the problem with the proposed syntax is, that it is hard to specify property types and a more complex structure (sub folders that potentially require proper primary types etc.).
Would a syntax similar to the initialContent feature that relies on vlt work for you:

profileContent: |
<jcr:root jcr:primaryType="nt:unstructured"
description="test user1"
strProp="strVal"
boolProp="{Boolean}true" />
IMHO this is more future proof and YAML allows with | multi-line strings out-of-the-box.
