gnome-session --session=pantheon doesn't work on elementary OS 5.0 Juno :(
xfce4-session did work but I've never used that desktop and not sure I can get used to it.

I never got gnome to start in xrdp, but probably because I use nfs-mounted $HOME. xfce4 and kde are working well.

You must create a file in your home directory with name .xsession
and with this content:
gnome-session --session=pantheon
