A search for "Research Software Disclaimer" reveals that this might have been somewhat popular in the 1990s in various forms.

The "minibase" version of the license text seems to be the most generic, while the others add project-specific stuff, but they seem to have a pretty close match to the minibase version. We should go with that one for the text. Work-in-progress.
