Use just parser.parseArgs() or split correctly your string to parts. Your code breaks quoted string.

from argparse.

I want to use an args input string, not the actual CLI args, but I want an option that parses the args like this solution, and also treats quoted parts as a single arg.

If I pass --foo "hello world through as a CLI arg instead of a string literal it knows that hello world should be treated as one arg and parses it as such, but it doesn't do it for string input. Was just wondering why not and how I can achieve it.

from argparse.

CLI args are splitted to array by enviroment. That's out of scope of this project.
