Yes it's possible, put the configuration into kafka-sqs-source-connector.json, then use curl to POST it:
$ curl -H 'Content-type: application/json' -X POST -d @kafka-sqs-source-connector.json 'http://10.1.2.3:8083/connectors'
Then it will return something like this:
