Check the Advanced menu on the far right to see if Dynamic Intensity is still checked. The option you are referring to actually checks and unchecks this other setting (Dynamic Intensity).
As far as being effective, are there any adjustments I could make? One thing I do plan to do very soon is start adjusting intensity via the API rather than full out stopping and restarting mining. Aside from that, should the feature wait longer? Not as long?

Just checked, the -I D is placed in the arguments immediately after my selected arguments, so it's not removing that option from the arguments to run once I've unchecked the box.
Here's the arguments with pool information removed.
--scrypt -I 19,16 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 21568,2400 -w 256,64 --gpu-powertune 20 --auto-fan -I D --scan noauto --scan opencl:auto -d OCL0 -d OCL1 --api-listen --api-port 4028 --api-allow W:127.0.0.1, -T -q

OK, Yes, the Dynamic Intensity was still checked. I think un checking the box in the Advanced miner settings should also uncheck that option, no?
As for the effectiveness, my interface was lagging way too much even about 30s to a minute after beginning to use the computer again. Plus, my graphics drivers didn't like me trying to mine and watch netflix at the same time, so it caused them to crash a lot, stopping mining while I use the computer is easier and less of a headache. =
I'm sure the option works for some users, but it just isn't right for me.
Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll get that into a future update.
