Just as a warning, Yilmas's bark is much worse than their bite. :) They are very protective of Mr. Crawford, so try not to take it personally. We're talking in the main Obsidian Discord and helping me get things sorted.

I have been clarifying right now what is needed to to keep legally compliant in what we are doing with Mr. Crawford's products. In regards to using certain nouns, we have this from Crawford and further clarification in this subthread.

For your own personal vault that is never published, we cannot control what you do. For a vault that is hosted online, even backed up online, you need to be careful that you remain in compliance with the licensing agreements with Sine Nominee. It's also as a community, especially with WOTC/OGL happening, that every individual try to strive to make the more morally good choices towards the games and creators they enjoy. Also, I want to make sure that you don't get some weird cease and desist letter (Assuming you are U.S. based).

For this project, it looks like we'll need to do the following:

• Work from the free PDF only
• Paraphrase everything in a way that still means the intended meaning. Mechanics can stay the same name, as can certain functions and names, the rest must be reworded. I'm thinking we still transcribe word for word and run it through open-ai/chatgpt after the fact.

For right now, before adding anything else to your repo, it will be:
Best to sort through what's there
Remove back to an unpublished offline vault content you want to keep for yourself that is paid
What remains in the repo, gets reworded.

I have some more PF2E things to finish up on, but then I'll jump on and help out. I dont mind bashing my head against tables...

This vault that @tekolote is making is far from "bits".

I won't participate in a direct violation of Sine Nominee's license. Making 1:1 copies of descriptions and rules from Crawfords books are not allowed. And I sure hope content like this won't ever reach the shared vault.

I would like to edit or remove any thing that would be in violation of Sine Nomine's license. I will look over the other conversions for guidance on what a proper vault should contain and have changed the repository to private so as not to distribute the files that I have uploaded. Any guidance on how to move forward in a legal and acceptable way would be appreciated. I apologize for the misunderstanding

@tekolote I came out a bit harsh, but I've found it gets the point/issue across much more efficient.

If you look on the obsidian discord (tabletop-games channel), me and @sigrunixia has been talking a bit about what is allowed and what isn't.

But there are two main points:

1. Paraphrasing = Good, Direct copy = Bad
2. If a player can play the game, without using the PDF's = Bad

Due to the issues around OGL, Mr. Crawford has seen his moment to review his copyright, and is intended to release his own works under a specific license in the next few months. This license will also mention stuff like VTT.

Can't find the source for this though.

@tekolote We're going to have a concerted effort to work on Stars Without Number, and Worlds Without Number in June and likely into July. If you are not using the created repository anymore, I was wondering if you would feel comfortable transferring it to the community instead.

Else, I'll need to create a new one. :)
