[RFC] Product Variants by Company about multi-company HOT 4 CLOSED

I use and love product_multi_company, however it is not. I am planning on making a glue module though that will add companies from the variants into the company_ids provided by that module in the product template.

The current product => company mapping (namely for website_sale) in Odoo is based purely on the user. E.g.:

• User A company_id is Company A
• Product A company_id is Company B
• User A purchases Product A in E-commerce
• Sale order is generated for Company A

This operation is not changed with the product_multi_company module, unfortunately. It is also only operating on the template, vs here I need in in the variant.

My intent here is to allow a customer to be assigned to a top level company (think Amazon), then be able to purchase the same product that is offered from multiple providers (Amazon, Company A, Company B) - all of whom are competing on the same storefront.

Also just to note, we'll also make a glue module for partner_multi_company. This will automatically assign companies to partners as the sale orders are created. This will allow for the child companies to manage their own customer lists.
