Travis isn't running about prrte HOT 2 CLOSED

I found two issues, but I am afraid you could be referring to a new one ...

• https://travis-ci.org/pmix/prrte/builds/447103901 looks like an intermittent failure and there is nothing we could nor should do
• https://travis-ci.org/pmix/prrte/jobs/447597146 is a more interesting one. clang is in the $PATH but in a non standard location (/usr/local/clang-5.0.0/bin), and there is an export CC=clang. The root cause is when we sudo make install (for PMIx), clang is no more in the $PATH and hence the failure.
  In the logs, I noted

 /bin/bash ../../../../libtool   --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c   mca_gds_ds12.la '/usr/lib/pmix'
libtool: install: warning: relinking `mca_gds_ds12.la'

so I am on the fence whether this is a $PATH issue or there is someting fishy on the PMIx side (e.g. libtool should not be trying to reling mca_gds_ds12.la.

a possible fix is in #119
an other option is to force the default compiler to build pmix (and use the custom compiler for prrte only). That can be simply achieved by unsetting the CC environment variable in contrib/travis/install-pmix.sh (and we need to make sure the default gcc is installed when asking travis the clang compiler.
