I will gladly push this but I have a question. Don't you think it would be better to simply add "export DISPLAY=$(cat /etc/resolv.conf | grep nameserver | awk "{print $2}"):0" to the files? That is what I used to have and the simplicity worked much better. The current script for example does not work in some languages.

That was my first thought too. I chose to leave it as is for if the author has some use case I'm not familiar with. I'm using Ubuntu 18 LTS with WSL2 and both methods return the same IP.
I can replace everything just with the /etc/resolv.conf based method if there's no underlying reason for the current method.
