same problem here. Firefox and Chrome have both the same problem.

maybe related: firefox says the stylesheet-link is broken:

href="/?app=news&getfile=css%2Fnews.css"

the & should be &

@allo- Thanks for the debugging. However, the import OPML in the first run page is not implemented yet, that's why it's not working :) I want to make the one in the Settings to work well, and then I will copy the code for the firstrun page. I will close this issue once I am done with that.

is there any other usable way to import a opml file? Maybe you should add at least in the stable branch some hint that this function is not working, yet.

Yes, add one feed and then import from the Settings cog. I would actually appreciate some testing of that functions, rather than of the firstrun page. Thanks!

Okay, some feedback:

  • import from url does not work from first start either
  • the bookmarklet works
  • import from opml then: The feedback message lacks space characters around the numbers and the oplm-name. its "XofY feeds ... fromOPMLTITLE" at the moment
  • when not all feeds are imported, it would be nice to have a list, which are skipped, and why.

  • some feed titles contain html-entities, like <div>Title</div>. They are not from the uploaded opml-file, but maybe from the linked feeds.

I am not sure on what you mean by "import from url". If you mean the "Add feed", then it should work, can you give me more information?
About the feedback message: are you using the app from master? I changed many things in the importopml and those feedback messages shouldn't be there anymore.
In general, the app is not stable yet, I understand that it shouldn't be in the stable branch, that is confusing.

No firstrun page

from apps.

jancborchardt avatar jancborchardt commented on August 23, 2024

Then there probably should be some kind of »first run page«, even if it’s just a message in the rightcontent and a button prompting you to Import or add a page. Otherwise you’re thrown into the empty interface with no help.

Also see for that »Designing the Blank Slate« by 37signals: http://37signals.com/svn/posts/2322-design-decisions-new-basecamp-blank-slates

cosenal avatar cosenal commented on August 23, 2024

@jancborchardt: we all agree there should be some kind of first-run page, but then the issue should be titled "No first-run page".

from apps.

allo- avatar allo- commented on August 23, 2024

don't you think, this should go into a new bug? This one was about the page, which had a "import opml" button in some previous version. The button did not work.
If you're going to plan a whole new firstrun-page, this is not the right bug, even when this issue may be resolved in the process.
