I ran into the same issue when using a C++ wrapper. Before marking this as a bug, and forcing the window to be visible, I'd like to do a little research into why the Window is hidden by default when using a C++ wrapper.

By default Windows need to have "show()" invoked when started by the application engine. Usually this is done by the C++ caller though because the caller may want to check for any errors that happened on the start of execution.

Thanks @geiseri, that's exactly the answer I needed to know whether we should automatically show the window or not. I'll add documentation about calling show() when using the app engine.
