It's been 2 years since last commit, but we still use it with success with Redmine 3.x

I just tried https://github.com/thorin/redmine_image_clipboard_paste and it supports markdown, as well as drag'n'drop, but not cropping.
You might want to try it out...

Well, if this plugin is only for textile, it should be stated in README
