I'm checking if removing "-DPIONEER_DATA_DIR=/usr/share/pioneer" will fix this. I don't remember why it was needed before.

Added some documentation regarding the build presets we ship to COMPILING.txt if interested. Closing this issue as resolved - as you figured out, the PIONEER_DATA_DIR variable now needs to (and should default to) point to /usr/share/pioneer/data if the game is installed to /usr/share/pioneer. (This resolved a problematic inconsistency where the data directory sometimes pointed to the data folder and sometimes to the containing folder).
