Bug: Stutter in basic animation on various browsers and OS about pixijs HOT 1 CLOSED

I ended up solving the problem myself. This ThreeJS thread helped a lot in identifying the issue. In particular this basic test should help in isolating the issue. It should run smoothly. if not, the problem is with the browser, OS or hardware.

There were multiple compounding issues:

1. My monitor was introducing a stutter, this shouldn't be an issue for any one else unless you have a Dell U2518D.
2. My Macbook Pro M1 is having trouble with vsync. In every setup I can think off: using the main display, on the external display, with the laptop open and/or closed. This might be an issue for others as well. I ended up switching to another system. This site should help in identifying a vsync problem.
3. Two basic rectangle mask were adding a massive load on the GPU on the M1 Macbook. I suspect this might be an actual issue with PixiJS. But I also suspect v8 will have changed it up massively so it is not worth pursuing for me at this time. In short, even an empty mask would add ms to the GPU load, quickly flowing over the 16ms window. e.g.:
