Ok, I have made it. All I had to do was install node & npm as the user, not as root. I used this tutorial http://tnovelli.net/blog/blog.2011-08-27.node-npm-user-install.html
Hope it helped somebody..

I have the same exact problem. I tried to the best of my ability to follow the above link and I still have the same problem. Could you help me step by step on this problem?
