I think I disagree. The main reason is for this to be a feeder into the
SpaDES UIs. THe idea being that it shouldn't matter what projection,
resolution etc. all the input data have, but they all need to work
together.
This would be useful if we are really serious about going from raw data to
simulation outputs and analysis. i.e., if a dataset, say fire occurrence,
gets updated, then the reprojection could easily be done on the fly the
first time, then the reprojected data layers are cached until the data
layers get updated again the next time.
We could also imagine a pulldown menu option on an advanced page that would
give options for geographic details... I could imagine that resolution, for
example, could be something interesting even for a high level user.
Now, the question is, "should this be a SpaDES issue" or a "SpaDES-modules
issue"... that is a good question. Probably the latter.
