Have you tried it?

Would it be possible to get gitreceive to run on a Mac?
If yes, can you maybe point out some of the things that would have to be
changed?

Thanks

Yes, I tried it on a Mac mini running OS X Lion Server. The first error was that it couldn't create the user, because setting up a user in terminal is different on a Mac.
But before I look up every command to see if it works on a Mac, I thought, since you wrote it, you might know what parts of the script are linux-specific. Or if maybe the SSH server on the Mac is compatible or not.
Sorry for my beginner questions, I would be happy to adapt the script myself, but some pointers might save me a lot of headaches.

Thanks

I don't actually know. Depending on how many differences there are, I also
might not want to build in compatibility.

It's ok, I probably am the only one trying to run this on a Mac anyway.
I'll just try it, if it works, I'll put it on Github.

Thanks
