I took a quick look around but haven't found an off-the-shelf solution.
TF providers use https://github.com/bflad/action-milestone-comment which comments on all issues belonging to a milestone after the milestone is closed. We can't do that because we don't use milestones for releases.
Also, we compile our release notes with Automatically generated release notes from GitHub, and unfortunately those don't include issue numbers, only pull requests.
We need a tool that
- Runs on any release.
- Pulls the notes from the release.
- Lists all pull requests belonging to this release.
- For each pull request, finds which issues it fixed.
- Comments on those issues.
Again, I don't see a pre-made tool for this flow. I haven't even found any concrete asks for it anywhere.
