Okay, thanks for reporting this, normally I try to ensure that we use event listeners for all things like this, but this case seems to have slipped through the cracks. I'll see what our release schedule is like for this project, and when we'll be able to land it (we try not to do too many releases, where possible).

@olivernn This change is now merged into master but not released yet. However I've just pushed out a 1.9.5-pre release in case you want to link to that for the time being - http://js.pusherapp.com/1.9.5-pre/pusher.js - let me know if you have any issues. Thanks :)
