very likely this is caused by rust-lang/cargo#12207 (comment)
Note: the upcoming nightly removes doc-comment support after a several months transition period and as we don't seem to need further feedback on that syntax.

The removal of the doc-comment in rust-lang/cargo#13241 support leaves us with no choice but to revert
059062a until rustfmt support is added.

Actually we'll need to revert all of #565 , as the nightly clippy wont work with the cargo-eval syntax.

Actually, nightly-2024-01-01 works. It isnt a nice solution, but it is better than ripping out clippy support.
