Maybe try running this command first?
source ~/.bash_profile
Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve used it so can’t be sure.

@clamytoe OK that worked perfectly. After I ran that command I can now type in pyenv and it shows me the help command.
The thing is, I don't understand why it works lol
Edit: Also it seems I have to keep running source ~/.bash_profile every time I run the shell / terminal. How do I get it run automatically? Is there a way ?

you dont have to run it each time, it is source-ed every time you start a new shell. You only have to do it manually when you make changes to it and want to have those in your current shell
