I thought about this quite a lot. Indeed, having this name is more difficult to import. But the rationale is:
pyvisa-simis an extension for pyvisa and does not work alone- People should only use it through
pyvisa, and should not import it directly. - Those who need importing it are the developers, and they can use
__import__orimportlib.import_module
from pyvisa-sim.
