Please provide further details.
Did you compile the code yourself or installed one of our binary packages?
I am also using 10.9.4 without any issues.

I'm using the binary .dmg from sourceforge with Qt 4.8.6 via homebrew (--developer --with-qt3support). I see an assertion error in a Qt header now that I try launching from the command line:
2014-08-15 09:56:08.646 qucs[1688:507] CoreText performance note: Client called CTFontCreateWithName() using name "Courier New" and got font with PostScript name "CourierNewPSMT". For best performance, only use PostScript names when calling this API.
2014-08-15 09:56:08.646 qucs[1688:507] CoreText performance note: Set a breakpoint on CTFontLogSuboptimalRequest to debug.
ASSERT: "!isEmpty()" in file /usr/local/Cellar/qt/4.8.4/include/QtCore/qlist.h, line 286
Abort trap: 6
reinstalling Qt right now (maybe I installed HEAD before?) & will update in a few moments

Hold on. If you are using our binaries, you should not need to install Qt.
Qt is only necessary if you are going to build Qucs from source.
Moreover, for the 0.0.18 snapshot, you should be using the latest (the .dmg is know to have issues in some systems):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qucs/files/qucs-binary/0.0.18-snapshots/qucs-0.0.18-140614-git-baf813d-min_osx10.7.pkg/download
from qucs.
I had qucs-0.0.18-macosx-10.5-intel_snapshot130703.dmg above. Yours works fine it seems. Apologies for stupid user extra-cleverness.
BTW it looks like you handle bugs on sourceforge instead of here on github, yes? If so, you may want to disable 'issues' on this mirror in the repo settings.
Thanks much.. looking for time to get more involved.

I am experimenting with Github issues. I hope to convince the other maintainers to use it here instead of SourceForge... Stay tuned, there will be another snapshot along the week that fix a few bugs on the Mac.
