So you're not the only one to experience this. Not sure what we should do about it, as it seems to be a jquery 1.8.1 issue.

Maybe just a comment in the readme or somewhere, to warn users that this might happen.

I had this problem too. fixed by going back to version 2.1.1. The lag was dramatic.
Now that it's working normally again it's weird; I became convinced it was always broken.

Just released 2.1.3 with jquery 1.8.2, would be nice if they fixed it. Let me know.
