date1904 being ignored by MS Excel about axlsx HOT 2 CLOSED

Totally depends on the OS and excel version.

There are versions of Excel for Windows that say 'oh, the tag is there! ignore the content and just assume it is 1904'
Then there are users who have changed the date system manually.

So, solutions:

if 1904 is set to false - don't serialize it.
Very simple to implement and should work fine.

This would be used in cases where the client (e.g. Agent) is Windows OR when the client is on 2011 mac (which you are not going to know about anyways. Office for Mac 2011 uses the 1900 date system by default.

Hurray for MS for fixing their lotus 123 compatibility bug - but boooo for backwards compatibility.
