To illustrate things a little better, here are two examples:
The media overlay service will announce itself through a link object in links
in the Web Publication Manifest.
The link object is a URI template where the reading system can include the path to a specific resource:
{
"rel": "media-overlay",
"href": "/media-overlay?resource={path}",
"type": "application/media-overlay+json",
"templated": true
}
In addition to announcing the media-overlay service, the Web Publication Manifest also contains a reference in spine
for each resource that has a media overlay associated to it.
This information is provided using the properties
object, in which a media-overlay
key points to a relative URI where the reading system can access the media-overlay.
{
"href": "chapter1.html",
"type": "text/html",
"properties": {
"media-overlay": "/media-overlay?resource=chapter1.html"
}
}
