I'm not able to replicate, in both Windows and Arch Linux.
If the db file does not exists the program ask me a password for initialization.
Could you update your rust toolchain to the latest version using rustup update.

i've done it already, it's fresh:
active toolchain

stable-i686-unknown-linux-gnu (default)
rustc 1.58.1 (db9d1b20b 2022-01-20)
yes it asked the secret and then the db password.

no, i just confirmed that rust is recent which i compiled with and it asked the inputs, then crashed.
have not tested since my opening attempt.
