If we go the second route so we don't depend on GBIF's agenda: the dataset title can be easily found by querying the GBIF api, example: https://api.gbif.org/v1/dataset/14d5676a-2c54-4f94-9023-1e8dcd822aa0
=> the dataset name is found in result['title']

I reported this issue already: gbif/gbif-api#56. Maybe you should reopen it?

Thanks @damianooldoni. I'm not sure it's the exact same issue since the data takes a different route this time (data download Vs REST api), but I indeed plan to report that to GBIF, so it can be improved for the whole community.

Ah yes, you are right, in my issue data were retrieved via API.
I suggest to check with one or two occurrences if the datasetName is missing also via REST API. This could help GBIF to better identify the bug.

Update: bug reported to GBIF: gbif/occurrence#270
from gbif-alert.
Update: problem still unsolved at GBIF, we might need to implement solution 2) soon, because it's not a great bug to have once we officially launch the website.

Done, hopefully we can remove the hack once GBIF has fixed the root issue.

Removed the hack because GBIF said the bug was fixed, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Reversing...
