I personally like it, when roles work out of the box.
Also i played a lot with docker, and 'latest' is there the default unless you set a specific version.
So i would appreciate to set the version to 'latest' with a big disclaimer in the readme

What about changing the default to: if 'present' do nothing?
And bump the version of the ansible role to v3.x to express "breaking" changes and leave it up to the users.

After using it for a couple of months, I changed my mind.
I agree with @jogrie , 'latest' is indeed the more sensible default.
