Hi @cmacrae. Thanks for this nice work and I think the easiest would be to have a nano-tree.el
and have the default fallback as you propose. The idea behind nano-emacs is to reduce dependencies to a minimum (or none at all) such that people can re-use one the sub-module without too much hassle. So I think your fallback approach would fir perfectly (with some documentation in the header maybe).
Maybe at some point an org documenation wou be necessary to explain modules and how to contribute.
