Hi @rroemhild , I figure out a workaround to install modules in the dockerfile.
It solved my problem.
But the word obsolete in the obsolete-manual-build branch make me feel unreliable.
Looking forward for a more elegant solution.

Hi @athom, thanks for sharing your solution! As far as I know the ejabberd team want to support installing modules without a running ejabberd in the future.

I'll close this issue because I'm not sure if and when this gets implemented. But you can try to install modules on every container start with a post run script after modules specs update.
