Albums are custom posts basically. If they have a featured image set, use that image as thumbnail.

Otherwise use first child (attachment with mime-type image) as thumbnail.

Can we have thumbnails of similar size? May be use hard-crop for now.

Add featured image as thumbnail and if it is not set then we use first child as thumbnail.
Also give similar size for thumbnails.

Hello? I'd like to know how I can add a thumbnail to my albums. I just installed bp on a client's site and need SOMETHING better than that default image.

@affordablewebs We will provide an option to select any image from album as its (album's) thumbnail in future releases

I understand in the future; I was asking if it can be shared how to manually do it now, since it's been done and proven it can be done. If there's something I need to do with the css, please share. I don't know how long the 'future' will take.

Its not possible using CSS. We need to add plenty of code HTML+PHP+JS+CSS codes which will basically give some UI for a user to select any image from album to make it as cover photo.

Behind the scene, cover photo is just featured image for "album" (custom-post type)

@affordablewebs we have just release version 2.3 which adds feature to set album-cover image manually.
