On a closer inspection, the date and time in the menubar changed for an instant before going back. There is something in the OS that reverts the system clock to the correct value. Indeed, sometimes the change remains longer before being reverted.
I tried to disable internet access and to turn off "Automatic Date & Time" in system settings but with no luck. Close enough for me however.
