I have encountered the same errors when running "make test" using Ubuntu 14.04, and cuda 8.0. If there is something wrong with this SigmoidCrossEntropyLossLayer, I would think the training could be incorrect. But maybe the tests for it are not implemented?
I tried training with the HED data and prototxts provided, and the loss seems to be between 1000 and 6000 over 1000 iterations.
