I haven’t tested this but I would say parsing the declaration is finished with the x and the zero gets parsed as an (invalid) new declaration that is then ignored (or throws an exception if beStrict() is used).
This behaviour is incorrect in two distinct ways:
- As you pointed out: the parser should try (and fail) to parse the
0as part of the previous declaration. - It should not be permissible to even start a new declaration if the parser hasn’t encountered a semicolon.
