ekolve, I just added a test case to try and reproduce your observation but could not. could you try forking the project and run the tests? what kind of environment are you deploying the gem in?

I could reproduce under 1.9.2, not sure why it works under REE but that's a different story. Pushed the fix and will ask gem maintainer to release 0.2.2. Thanks for the heads up.
