Calculate automatically an optimized value for the heap size:

cf set-env app OPTIMIZE_MEMORY true

Start the app in CF with a specific option:

in Procfile:
web: node start.js
in manifest.yml:

applications:
- name: app
  command: node my-app.js
...

Use the automatic calculation offered by the buildpack. I do not know if the environment setting is permanent and will survive a reboot.
