There are many methods that can be used for that purpose. The simplest would be to find the rotation by aligning the corners of the eyes, and the scale by the width/height of the estimated bounding box of the face.
This is a good question and I will add this simple method to de-rotate and scale to a canonical proportion. Stay tuned!
