Ok, thanks. I assumed that it might be by design and/or hard to fix/change. I haven't known about the cache feature of columns. Sounds good, but I think it might be better to use @cache for functions that reach out to a REST-API, as already the initial column creation after submitting = seems to evaluate the expression many more times than the number of rows. Feel free to close this issue.

This is, for better or worse, by design. If the column is cached (cache=True) then it will only run it once per row, unless z' is used to reset the cache. This is probably functionally equivalent to using @cache yourself, except you can't reset it.
