This issue seems to be resolved by Twitter. However, now we have an issue where the timeline is not displaying latest tweets and displays tweets from yonks ago!

Same problem here. I just saw the error today: "Nothing to see here - yet When they Tweet, their Tweets will show up here.".
I have no error in the console and I'm using the latest version available from npm: 4.0.4.

I don't think it's linked to a rate limit issue.
If you're logged on twitter in your browser it works.
You can easily reproduce this using private browsing.
I'd say it's most likely linked with cookies.
