Thanks for the context. We can remove the native calls in 1.10.0. Hopefully people using older Linux can use sbt 1.9.7 until then or use -Dsbt.io.jdktimestamps=true.

We've made this change to address #7455 /cc @bratkartoffel, so this is kind of interesting. Similar to the Alpine, one workaround is to run sbt with -Dsbt.io.jdktimestamps=true.

Oh my, another issue due to glibc not being posix conform... It seems that the older 2.28 (from 2018!) defines stat as a macro, which redirects to xstat. Using xstat, on the other hand, is not posix conform and thus not available for musl libc.
Apparently that stat->xstat thing changed until the later glibc version.
@eed3si9n i think the whole native stuff should really be removed. But i'm not sure what to do about this issue until then...
