you can specify the tag in your deps file too: origin=1.1.0

I've tested this before creating issue as I was almost sure it should work.
But origin/1.1.0 doesn't work because standard bin/vendors script use git reset --hard command which accept only branch names for some reason

I've tested this on 2 computers

One solution might be create branch with name 1.1.0
Second is fork vendors script to use checkout instead of git reset

git reset --hard also accept tag names (and commit sha). But you need to remove the origin/ part as a tag is not a remote branch.
