2.1 `pip install --upgrade lupa` not enough, `--force-reinstall` was needed about lupa HOT 4 CLOSED

Thanks for the report, but if you cannot reproduce it, I'm not sure what I can do to debug the issue. As it stands, it seems more likely a user side problem than a general package issue.

The package you installed before was built from source and likely have the same version number "2.1" so pip won't update it unless force reinstall option is passed.

That makes perfect sense. If the version of the source code had been kept under 2.1, or if the version number given to pip would have been 2.1.2, would that have not caused this issue?

I think so, pip only update package if the latest version on pypi.org is newer than locally installed package by default. Unless force install options are passed.
