I think a couple of these issues have changed in nature. I think the 'type' column was removed. It would be nice to know what the image was actually backed by as the type: flex image, iso, vhd, etc. but I'm not sure that's readily exposed in the API.
Also, create-options has a list of os codes which don't currently map to public images. Therefore, users would have to go to two different places to find "images": sl cci create-options and sl image list

Currently,only a single call is implemented namely getFlexImageFlag[1], which tells if an image is flex or not.
We will have to wait for SoftLayer to implement the additional API calls required for getting types like standard,iso,vhd.

Part of this has been satisfied for 3.1.0. The rest will be released with 3.2.0 after we have further discussion.
