Is there a good/gentle way to raise warnings for python2.5 users? If so, then we could implement the first suggestion for now, then go for the 2nd option when we release a later version.

In reviewing current stable operating systems, py2.6 is the minimum version we should to support. I explicitly ignore old-stable.

CentOS - py2.6
Debian - py2.6
Ubuntu - py2.7

I noticed this issue's been open for a while. We ought to simply cut all 2.5 support in the next release. Doesn't seem barbaric at all given the last non-security release in the 2.5.x series was roughly half a decade ago.

Perhaps just print out a message at run time and exit with a non-zero return code if the Python version doesn't match a hardcoded minimum.

#98 has been merged so this can be closed. When running setup.py an error will be given for python versions lower than 2.6.
