I will look into that. I was hoping to keep the cookbook dependencies as limited as possible.

Just getting started with Redis and Chef. Did this enhancement request go anywhere? Is pulling in the sysctl cookbook independently or while using redisio LWRP style the preferred way to go here?

We have a "redis" role with:

    "redisio::install",
    "redisio::enable"

            "vm.overcommit_memory": "1"
        }

}

This is the way to go.

If you are using the onehealth sysctl cookbook you will want to use

sysctl.params.vm.overcommit_memory = 1

And if you are not using that cookbook. Let me know why so I can make it
better to incorporate your use case.
